What is a difference between your Weighted GPA and your Unweighted GPA?

May 25, 2018 0 Comment

Your Unweighted GPA is a simple average of your course grades. Your Weighted GPA takes into account the types of courses you have taken (i.e., their difficulty level) and adds extra points for advanced courses before being calculated.
Example:

Course Course type Grade (4.0 scale) Extra grading points Adjusted grade
Math Regular 4.0 4.0
English Honors 3.0 0.5 3.5
US History AP 3.0 1.0 4.0
Chemistry Regular 3.0 3.0
Unweighted GPA 3.25
Weighted GPA 3.63
